Super-symmetry in genomes and its evolution

Abstract


Super-symmetry is the equivalence (or close proximity) of the frequencies of two strngs making a complementary palindrome, i.e. the string that are read equally in opposite directions with respect to the Chargaff's substitution law of nucletides. Surprisingly, this proximity is widely present in genetic entities, while calculated over a single strand of DNA, not two ones. We proposed few models to simulate a development of this effect, and compared it to the biological data. Over 5000 genomes have been used to test the models and trace the patterns of the second Chargaff's rule implementations and/of violations, in various genetic systems.
