Abstract

We study population genetic models of selection and migration between finitely many niches or demes. Suppose that in each deme selection leads to a globally stable equilibrium. Will the combined dynamics of selection and migration lead to a globally stable equilibrium? We give conditions under which this holds but also present counterexamples.
