SEFI Mathematics Working Group
The SEFI (European Society for Engineering Education) Mathematics Working Group (MWG) was established in 1982. The aims of the Working Group include providing a forum for the exchange of views and ideas amongst those interested in engineering mathematics, and promoting a fuller understanding of the role of mathematics in the engineering curriculum, and its relevance to industrial needs.

Transvaluation: Making the world matter
In the current measurement - and indicator-driven knowledge culture, research in architecture, art and several disciplines within humanities and social sciences may succumb to economic or scientific models, or be separated from important contexts of invention, risking to reduce research largely to standardized reproduction. Responding to the current proliferation of evaluation systems and the dominant culture of measurement that comes with it, the Transvaluation international symposium searches for alternative, cooperative environments of knowledge, of creation and invention, of 'making and thinking', and ways to trans- and re-value research cultures from within.

International Conference on Creep and Deformation Characteristics in Geomaterials
The partners of the European Marie Curie Industry-Academia Pathways and Partnership project on Creep of Geomaterials (FP7/2007-2013, CREEP PIAG-GA-2011-286397) warmly invite you to participate in the closing conference for this project. This is an opportunity to discuss and share state of the art knowledge on creep of geomaterials and other porous media, with focus on geotechnical engineering challenges.

The aim of the conference is to provide an international forum for presenting and discussing the latest developments in monitoring, analysing and managing long-term deformations in geotechnical engineering. Creep and rate-dependency is also an important mechanism in other engineering materials, such as concrete and polymers. Papers on any aspect of this subject are most welcome. Active discussion on key topics will be facilitated through invited keynote lectures. In addition, the partners of the CREEP project will present some of the highlights of their research programme, achieved through intense collaboration between industry and academia. The results include new numerical tools for modelling large boundary value problems, new rate-dependent constitutive models, and validation of boundary value problems using results from real field applications.
The following keynotes speakers have been confirmed to give a keynote presentation:
- Prof. Efraín Ovando-Shelley (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico)
- Prof. Itai Einav (The University of Sydney, Australia)
- Prof. Pierre-Yves Hicher (École Centrale de Nantes, France)
- Prof. Kenneth Runesson (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden)

LCM 2013
2013-08-25 – 2013-08-28Welcome to the 6th International Conference on Life Cycle Management – LCM 2013
We are happy to welcome you to LCM 2013 – the 6th International Conference on Life Cycle Management in Gothenburg 2013, 25-28 August.
LCM 2013 is hosted by CPM – the Swedish Life Cycle Center – a Life Cycle Management-platform where industry, institutes, academy and government join forces in the ambition to reduce the environmental impact of current and future production and consumption systems.

ARCH12
2012-11-12 – 2012-11-14On behalf of the Centre for Healthcare Architecture (CVA) and the Nordic Research Network for Healthcare Architecture we would like to invite you to our International Conference ARCH12 and Forum Vårdbyggnad Nordic Conference 2012.
The Nordic countries, as many other EU countries, are entering a period of major investments in new Healthcare Architecture. The reason for this is rapid and dramatic changes in the health care system according to a profound focus on patient centred care and organisational development towards open clinic structures instead of inpatient hospital care, which in turn claims a strong support from an adapted physical environment.
The amount and quality of research on Healthcare Architecture has grown rapidly in recent years. However, there are still many questions for which good knowledge is lacking. The commission therefore both is to make existing international research knowledge available as well as carrying out research projects focusing more specifically on the healthcare situation in a variety of contexts. The conference aims to bring researchers and practitioners from across disciplines and countries to discuss the following themes:
We look forward to seeing you in Gothenburg!
Healing Architecture/Supportive Environments
Urban Design and Health
Planning and implementation Processes
Housing and Care for Elderly
Hospital Design
Extending the Hospital
Teaching Healthcare Design
The conference will take place at Chalmers University of Technology and is a joint event between Chalmers University of Technology, the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and the Swedish Association Forum Vårdbyggnad.
PETER FRÖST
adj. Professor, CVA Center director

-
KUL 2013
2013-01-16 – 2013-01-16Let us talk about how to enhance the students’ learning.
First KUL in January 2011 gathered about 130 enthusiastic teachers, program directors, students, study councellors and other persons active in Chalmers education. KUL 2012 gathered about 20 more participants.
Aim
To enhance the educational quality by:
• promoting collegial discussions on teching and learning
• teachers getting opportunity to get feed-back on their own teaching
• teachers getting a close arena to gain pedagogical qualifications
• offering an opportunity to share experiences of Constructive alignment at program and course level.
Program committeeThe committée prepares and organises the program, pre- and post review.
Participants: Mikael Enelund, Magnus Gustafsson, Josefin Bertilsson (student), Marie Arehag, Karin Ekman
Contact
Marie Arehag, Coordinator Chalmers Learning Centre
Karin Ekman, Chalmers Learning Centre
KUL is organised by Chalmers Learning Center

Ergoship 2011
2011-09-14 – 2011-09-16The first conference on Maritime Human Factors is going to be held September 14-16 2011 in Göteborg, Sweden.
Background and scope:
Shipping at present is a business with more and
larger ships, fewer crew members, more technology
and more accidents. The demands that these
developments put on people onboard need to be
studied and the tasks and workplaces must be developed
in step with technological, regulatory and
organisational changes. Similarly important is that
this is carried out in close cooperation with the
professional end users.
